Whats up whats up!
Guys I have been missing in action for way too long, but now I am back!
I have some very interesting DIY face packs/ masks/ scrubs for you. So without further ado, below are 3 simple DIY skincare methods I use for my dry skin.
To Brighten and exfoliate your face, use a mixture of yogurt and rice.
Soak about 2 tbsp. of rice for about 2 to 4 hours in water, grind and make a paste. Add one tbsp of cold plain yogurt. Mix well. Take this mixture and massage your face and neck for about 5 minutes (I use this for my arms, hand, legs and feet as well). Wash away with cold water!
Following the above routine, one can use a Yogurt (1tbsp), turmeric (a pinch) and besan (gram flour, 1/2 tbsp) mix , to really massage the face and neck.... always in an upward direction, against gravity, for about 20 minutes. This is especially important for the neck to avoid that turkey neck effect, as we age. Once you are ready to wash, make sure to wash with cold water and spray a light layer of rose water on the face as a toner.
Multani mitti (fullers earth clay) as we all know is great for the summer time to give the face an instant glow and to fight acne. This is especially good for oily skin. I like to put some freshly squeezed cucumber juice and some rose water in it, to make a paste of the clay. Dip cotton pads in the extra cucumber juice and put them on your eyes. This is very relaxing while you wait for the face pack to dry. I like to wash off the face pack just as i feel that its starting to dry up and fall. Be sure to NOT talk or smile while the pack is drying. After washing, I like to use rose water as my toner.
Another age old skincare, which my mother and grandmother always talk about, is the use of ground masoor daal (split red lentils). I have a jar full of this always in my pantry. I mix this with various things depending on the weather. In addition to a nice exfoliation one can be expect to see reduction in dark spots and evening of skintone.
In winters, I like to mix it with yogurt so that it doesn't dry out my skin (I have naturally dry skin anyways). In summer time, I mix it with rose water, regular water, with or without turmeric or with cucumber juice. Mixing it with freshly squeezed tomato juice will further brighten the skin.
Remember depending on your skin issue, one can us various permutation and combinations of ingredients.
I shall be blogging soon about my current skincare routine per the weather where I live.
See you soon!
